INDIAN COAST GUARD DAY

 Indian Coast Guard (ICG) Day is celebrated annually on February 1st to mark the raising of the force, which was officially established on February 1, 1977, by the Coast Guard Act of 1978. It honors the ICG's vital role in protecting India's , maritime zones, search and rescue operations, and marine environmental protection

The Indian Coast Guard was formally inaugrated by th then Prime Minister Shri Morarji Desai on 19 Aug 1978. Vice Admiral V.A. kamath, the first Director general accompanying the on'ble Prime Minister of India Shri Morarji Desai, after the inaugural function at naval Dockyard, Mumbai (1978).

4 FEBRUARY      World Cancer Day 

World Cancer Day was established on 4 February 2000 at the World Cancer Summit Against Cancer for the New Millennium, which was held in Paris.

Most cancer recurrences happen within this period, so remaining cancer-free for 5 years significantly lowers the chance of the cancer returning, indicating successful treatment and often allowing doctors to consider a patient cured for many cancers, though long-term monitoring continues. It serves as a key benchmark in clinical trials to assess new treatments and offers patients and doctors a strong indicator of long-term survival, marking a shift from active treatment to survivorship. 

9-13 FEBRUARY      Kala Ghoda Festival

Kala Ghoda Art Festival is an unique festival held in Mumbai which celebrates art. A 9 day long festival dedicated to art gets organised by Kala Ghoda Association each year. The name Kala Ghoda means "Black Horse." The area got its name from a statue of King Edward VII (the then Prince of Wales) that once stood in the area. It was unveiled in June 1879 by Sir Richard Temple,

Diverse, free, or affordable activities including visual arts, literature, music, food, and dance workshops, attracting huge crowds. 

Mumbai's iconic Kala Ghoda precinct derives its name from the black bronze statue of King Edward VII, sculpted by Sir Joseph Boehm and gifted by Albert Sassoon in 1879. Though the statue was relocated to Byculla Zoo in 1965, the name remained.

It is a day for all ages to pick up a pencil, sketch from observation, or try step-by-step drawing to improve artistic skills

Radio is sound communication by radio waves, usually through the transmission of music, news, and other types of programs from single broadcast stations to multitudes of individual listeners equipped with radio receivers. . The information is carried by invisible radio waves. Radio waves are used for broadcasting, or sending out, radio and television programs.

RADIO DAY

In 2012, in Barcelona, Spain, a public event organised by the College of Telecommunications Engineers of Catalunya (COETTC) was held on the 21st of February, 2012 to commemorate World Radio Day. The event was organised with the help of the Government of Catalonia. The main event was a panel discussion entitled "For a more global and competitive radio". In Switzerland, the European Broadcasting Union organized a Digital Radio Week. This was a series of technical events starting on the 13th of February, 2012, with the participation of the main radio standardization organizations: DRM Consortium, WorldDMB, RadioDNS. 

There was also a local digital radio transmission in DAB+ demonstrating the democratization of transmission for smaller structures, using CRC mmb Tools open software-defined radio tools.

Bangladesh NGOs Network for Radio and Communication (BNNRC) promotes the observance of World Radio Day on the 13th of February in collaboration with public service Broadcasting, Commercial Broadcasting & Community Broadcasting at the local and national levels. The World Radio Day Observation National Committee was established in Bangladesh for this purpose.

20 FEBRUARY      World Day of Social Justice

World Day of Social Justice is an international day recognizing the need to promote social justice, which includes efforts to tackle issues such as poverty, exclusion, gender inequality, unemployment, human rights, and social protections. It serves as a global call to action for governments, organizations, and individuals to work together on social protection, fair working conditions, and inclusive policies for sustainable development. Established by the UN General Assembly in 2007 and first observed in 2009, the day is celebrated every year on 20 February and draws attention to various global challenges, such as poverty, unemployment, exclusion, and unequal access to resources.

Central Excise Day 

  Central Excise Day is observed in India on 24 February every year to encourage the employees of the excise department to carry out the central excise duty in a better way to prevent corruption in the manufacturing business and to carry out the best possible exercise services in India. later on called as Central Excise Act and to acknowledge the contribution of the Central Board of Indirect Taxes. Despite the introduction of the Goods and Services Tax (GST), central excise levies persist on specific goods such as petroleum, alcohol, and tobacco. These levies remain an important source of tax income for the government, supporting socio-economic development by financing vital public services.

Central Excise Day 2025 commemorates the key role played by the CBIC and its officers in sustaining India's economy. It is a reminder of tax compliance and the role of excise duty in national development. As India modernizes its tax code, Central Excise Day is a reminder of the continued effort to sustain economic stability and growth.

NGO DAY

Non-governmental organizations, or NGOs, were first called such in Article 71 in the Charter of the 

newly formed United Nations in 1945. While NGOs have no fixed or formal definition, they are generally defined as nonprofit entities independent of governmental influence

International non-governmental organizations date back to at least the late 18th century, and there were an estimated 1,083 NGOs by 1914. International NGOs were important to the anti-slavery and women's suffrage movements, and peaked at the time of the 1932–1934 World Disarmament Conference.

The term became popular with the 1945 founding of the United Nations in 1945,  Article 71 in Chapter X of its charter,  stipulated consultative status for organizations which are neither governments nor member states.  An international NGO was first defined in resolution 288 (X) of the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) on February 27, 1950, as "any international organization that is not founded by an international treaty". The role of NGOs and other "major groups" in sustainable development was recognized in Chapter 27 of Agenda 21. The rise and fall of international NGOs matches contemporary events, waxing in periods of growth and waning in times of crisis. The United Nations gave non-governmental organizations observer status at its assemblies and some meetings. According to the UN, an NGO is a private, not-for-profit organization which is independent of government control and is not merely an opposition political party. An observer has access to most meetings and relevant documentation

NATIONAL SCIENCE DAY

Science is called science because the word comes from the Latin "scientia," meaning knowledge, understanding, or awareness, reflecting its core purpose of systematically acquiring and organizing knowledge about the natural and physical world through observation and experimentation. The term evolved from "knowing" to describe a systematic process of inquiry, encompassing the body of knowledge itself and the methods used to gain it, rather than just a collection of facts. World Science Day for Peace and Development is celebrated annually on November 10th, established by UNESCO to highlight science's vital role in society, promote public engagement in scientific issues, and link science to peace and sustainable development.

National Science Day is celebrated to spread a message about the importance of science used in the daily life of the people. To display all the activities, efforts and achievements in the field of science for human welfare. It is celebrated to discuss all the issues and implement new technologies for the development in the field of science. To give an opportunity to the scientific minded citizens in India. To encourage the people as well as popularize science and technology.
